Located 40 miles west of downtown Columbia, South Carolina, Saluda is a larger town past highway 391 and Gilbert, one of the farther sides of the lake.
The Saluda area of Lake Murray is the farthest West area of the lake and is comprised of a small river compared to other areas of the lake, named the “Little Saluda River”, that feeds into the lake from different small branches near the town of Saluda. Saluda has a town center but overall is more undeveloped with a good amount of farm land. There are neighborhoods and residential areas around the town of Saluda with quaint homes, historic gems, and large estates. Even though there is about 500 miles of shoreline in this area, there is much less lakefront real estate for sale, making these secluded, wooded homes in high demand. The area has bridges that cross over both sides of the river to connect Saluda to other areas. Some popular areas include Wyses Ferry, Bar Woods, and Windwood Acres.

Along with chains like Dollar General and CVS, there are also local stores like CB Forrest and Son, Touch of Country and Crouch Hardware. For groceries, There is a Food Lion in town and local shops are plentiful like Patchwork Farm and Tienda Mexicana.

Saluda has plenty of great local spots as well as many chain restaurants in town. Some of the local favorites are Mig’s Pizza Castle, Sarah’s Snack Bar and Restaurant, Judy’s Kitchen, 3 Marias Authentic Mexican and Lunch n’ Treats. For a good coffee spot, check out Root 121 Cafe.

PARKS + RECREATION
Parks in the Saluda area are sparse with one main park near the town of Saluda called Saluda Park that features a paved trail, a gazebo and picnic tables. There is an RV park located on the little Saluda called Big Creek.
The area is also home to the Little River Landing and Bait as well as Camp Barstow, a Scout camp on the lake.
