Located just 15 miles west of downtown Columbia, South Carolina, Lexington is a highly sought after area with great shopping, close proximity to downtown and features established neighborhoods with great schools. 

Homes in Lexington near Lake Murray are typically in large neighborhoods with lake access or lakefront homes that can go into the millions. Lexington also has homes outside of neighborhoods with large lots and there are some new construction neighborhoods built in the last few years. Some of the neighborhoods near or on Lake Murray include Village Green, Pilgrim Point, Governor’s Grant,  Kingston Harbour, Hallmark Shores and many more. Lexington has a great shopping with much of the large stores and restaurants on Sunset Boulevard. Main Street in downtown Lexington has boutiques, local restaurants and a large amphitheater for events and concerts. Area schools are in the Lexington District 1 which spans all of Lexington. The population is around 20,000.

Lexington has some great local spots as well as many chain restaurants. Some of the local favorites are Alodia’s, San Jose, Hudson’s Barbecue, Private Property, Cafe Studel and O’Hara’s. For a good drink be sure to stop by Hazelwood Brewing Company for craft beer or Wings N’ Ale near the dam.

SHOPPING

Lexington has it all when it comes to shopping. From big box stores like Target, Hobby Lobby, Best Buy and Lowes to local boutiques like Magnolia and Whimsy Grace. For groceries, Publix, Lidl, Aldi, Lowe’s Foods and more are right in the center of it all.

PARKS + RECREATION

Lexington has many community parks including Virginia Hylton Park, Gibson Pond Park, Palmetto Collegiate Institute, Paw Park, a dog park, and the Lake Murray Public Park on the south side of the Dam. Virginia Hylton Park is a beautiful park with walking trails and playgrounds in central downtown Lexington near the Icehouse Ampitheater. Pine Grove Sports Complex is popular for youth leagues and sports leagues for softball, baseball and more. Fourteen Mile Creek Trail is a 1.7 mile trail with pathways and bridges that is family friendly and an easy way to get in some exercise in nature.

The Lake Murray Public Park features a large beach and swimming area, large picnic areas, and of course access to the Lake Murray dam with a 1.5 mile walking path with amazing views of the lake. Don’t miss the 4th of July Fireworks at the Dam.

AREA SCHOOLS

The Lexington area has plenty of great schools to accommodate its growing population. Lexington District 1 schools feed into two main high schools that focus on technology and career development.
