Located just 12 miles northwest of downtown Columbia, the Irmo/Ballentine area is a highly sought after part of the lake due to its close proximity to all areas of the city and its award winning schools.
Know for its close proximity, marinas and attractions, the Irmo/Ballentine area has apartment and townhome living to offer but million dollar homes take up the majority of the Lake Murray waterfront. Irmo has a great variety of big box and local stores. Whether you want to stop by Columbiana Mall or hit up Harbison Boulevard, Irmo has many stores from Target to Dick’s Sporting Goods. For groceries, Publix, Food Lion, Aldi, Kroger, Walmart and more are right in the center of it all.
PARKS + RECREATION
Irmo and Ballentine have many great community parks including Irmo Community Park, Irmo Town Park, Saluda Shoals Park, Seven Oaks Park, Ballentine Community Center, 2 YMCA’s and the Dam North Recreational Area.
Saint Andrews and Seven Oaks are popular for sports like baseball, softball and soccer youth leagues. Ballentine Community Center, also home to United FC Soccer Complex, is a hot spot for youth soccer. Saluda Shoals is an expansive park bordered by the Saluda River that includes walking trails, camping sites, picnic areas, playgrounds, a splash pad, dog park and you can even float the river with kayak and tube rentals. The Dam recreational area features boat launches, docks, fishing piers, picnic areas and of course access to the Lake Murray dam with a 1.5 mile walking path with amazing views of the lake. Don’t miss the amazing Christmas lights display at Saluda Shoals and the 4th of July Fireworks at the Dam.
