Located just 23 miles northwest of downtown Columbia, South Carolina, Chapin is a town centered around Lake Murray with a laid back feel, family friendly vibe and top rated schools.

Chapin, popularly known as the “Capital of Lake Murray”, has many large, established neighborhoods such as Timberlake and Forty Love as well as many new construction neighborhoods becoming more prominent in the area. Chapin has a small downtown area and shopping district on the main thoroughfare and the majority of the area is rural farm land with neighborhoods and homes sprinkled in between. There are several unique restaurants, pop up boutiques and some of the best antique shopping in the Midlands! Population is right around 1,600 with the majority being homeowners. Chapin is known for their friendly residents and you don’t want to miss the annual Forth of July parade and festival.

Some of the many great restaurants include Zesto, Groucho’s, The Daily Grind and Farm Boys Barbecue, Chophouse of Chapin and J.Peters. For a good drink be sure to stop by Rusty Anchor or Lazy Creek Taphouse for the best selection of beers.

Downtown Chapin has an array of boutiques and stores you can’t find anywhere else such as Nifty Gifty, Charmed, Studio 221 Interiors, Chapin Furniture and more. For groceries, Publix, Food Lion and Lowes Foods are right in the center of it all.

Crooked Creek Park offers a wide variety of recreational, cultural, instructional and social activities, and hosts visitors of all ages throughout the day. The park offers users many fun and recreational outlets including a community center with full gymnasium, athletic fields, picnic facilities, walking trails, playgrounds, 27-hole Disc Golf Course. Melvin Park offers a baseball complex, tennis courts, splash pad, picnic shelters, multi-use fields and outdoor pickle ball courts. The Peak to Prosperity Passage is a great way to explore the outdoors that the Chapin area has to offer as well!
Timberlake Country Club is the only golf course on Lake Murray with amenities including dining, swimming, tennis and a fitness center.

AREA SCHOOLS

Chapin prides itself on its award-winning schools, sports programs and school district. Lexington-Richand School District 5 has great schools at every age level.
