Lake Murray Fishing Forecast August - September
Striped Bass
– Lake Murray fishermen have experienced good success this past month catching stripers in the ‘Big Pool’ area of the lake. The bite has been good from daylight to about 9:30am on downrods fished from 60’ to 90’ deep in around 100’ feet of water. Trolling leadcore lines and downriggers have produced throughout the rest of the day. Fish will be able to be taken shallower during this transition using freelines and plannerboards pulled off points near deep water.
Black Bass
– Lake Murray fishing for bass has been good recently fishing topwaters early and late in the day. Carolina rigged worms and deep diving crankbaits have been successful off main lake points later in the day. Be sure to keep a rod ready as schooling activity can erupt at anytime during this time of the year.
Bream
– The bream fishing has been very good lately and should continue for the next couple of months fishing redworms and crickets in 1 to 10 feet of water. If you like fishing with ultralite equipment, casting beetle spins in white with red dot colors and yellow with black stripes and crickets is always a good way get a limit of panfish.
