June / July Fishing Forecast
To help you make your next Lake Murray Fishing your best Lake Murray fishing!
June / July Lake Murray Fishing Forecast
Striped Bass
– Lake Murray fishing in June and July will see the water temperatures warm from the 70’s into the high 80’s so the stripers will be seeking the cooler more oxygenated water in the main areas of the lake. Striper fishing will be good from Shull Island to the dam and all areas in between. Lake Murray Fishing with cut bait on main lake points and mid-lake humps in 20 to 40 feet of water will be good through June. ‘Downrod’ fishing with live Blueback herring to depths of sometimes 70 feet will produce all summer. If you don’t know anywhere else to fish, pull some bait around the ‘towers’. That will usually get you some nice fish. Don’t forget that this is one of the best times of the year to troll bucktails and Road Runners on leadcore line or downriggers in the ‘Big Pool’. Just find the thermocline with your depth sounder and troll your baits just above it.
Black Bass
– Bass fishing will be moving to the deeper wa
ters also. You can still fish topwater lures and buzzbaits early and late in the day. Fish points and mid-lake humps with Carolina rigs as the sun gets up.
Bream
– Shellcrackers and big bream will be hitting worms in two to eight feet of water near brush and shaded areas.
Crappie
– Crappie fishing will continue to be good using jigs and small tuffies around deep brush piles. You can also beat the summer heat by fishing for crappie at night under lights.
Catfish
– The catfishing will continue to be productive fishing cut herring and nightcrawlers on bottom.
